As featured in the American Art Therapy Association Eating Disorders Toolkit, INSIDE OUT is an artsy event that encourages individuals to celebrate inner beauty through the arts. Curated and run by art therapists, INSIDE OUT is a program that engages the participant to learn about the therapeutic impact of any array of arts; including, poetry, creative art, theatre, dance, writing and music. This program is perfect for entire families and for individuals ages 16 and up.
INSIDE OUT is a live program that contains a “Gallery of Hope” where the clinician works with patients to create multi-media artwork highlighting the positive aspects of recovery and their new perspective of body image, etc. Each entry contains a heartfelt story of recovery in a guidebook that is part of the Gallery. E-mail us for a sample Guidebook!
The program evolves in three stages. First, the art-therapy work is created in advance of the program date – typically in treatment or out-patient settings. Second, a committee of individuals meet six months prior to the program to plan the other aspects of the program (live performance / dance / music / poetry / gallery). Third, the program is carried out one one night (or over a period of days, depending on space and availability). Often times communities have requested that we travel the “Gallery of Hope” to other communities and venues.
