2015-2016 Mental Fitness Nonprofit Primary Research Projects and Programs
Project #1: How To Manage Serious Mental Illness and Eating Disorders in School Setting
Ongoing “Tiered Trainings” for K-12 and University Faculty & Staff “How To Manage Serious Mental Illness and Eating Disorders in School Setting.” Based on the evidence-based model we created in Spartanburg schools in 2013-2014 in collaboration with Coastal Carolina and Harvard School of Public Health researchers and funded by the Judy Bradshaw Children’s Foundation and Mary Black Foundation, we now seek support to roll out our professional development trainings for faculty and staff in other states.
Project #2: FLOURISH
FLOURISH is a peer led resilience program for high school and elementary school students. FLOURISH utilizes existing evidence-based content that builds the seven protective categories of mental fitness. These arts and mindfulness techniques are taught to high school students who then oversee the teaching of elementary aged children.
Project #3:5 Minute Mindfulness for Classroom Educators
5 Minute Mindfulness for Classroom Educators - Teachers can now learn short, easy to use mindfulness exercises for the classroom setting. The curriculum focuses on stress management, trauma focused mindfulness and other evidence-based techniques that build resilience in all youth.
